Installment Agreement
Request an Installment Agreement
You owe back taxes and don’t have the money to pay the taxes?
Installment agreements allow the payment of your tax liability in smaller, more manageable amounts. Installment agreements generally require equal monthly payments that will result in full payment of the tax you owe with within the time left in the 10-year period during which the IRS can collect the tax.
If you cannot pay your tax in full by the end of the collection period, but you can pay some of the tax you owe, you may qualify for a partial payment installment agreement.
For all installment agreements, the amount of your installment payment will be based on the amount you owe and your ability to pay that amount within the time left in the 10-year period.
To be eligible for an installment agreement, you must first file all required returns. All returns of which the tax return due date has passed must be filed. Tax Samaritan can help you with the preparation and filing of your unfiled returns.
The IRS will charge a user fee to set up an installment agreement. The fee is $52 for direct debit installment agreements, where payments are deducted directly from your bank account, or $105 for all other agreements.
If you already have an existing installment agreement, we may be able to help you modify your existing monthly payment in order to combine all of your tax liabilities into a single installment agreement.
Please note: An IRS Installment Agreement will not stop penalties and interest. Penalties and interest will continue to accrue until paid in full.
